NEW ADDED AS OF VERSION 1.8

Fixed error of program crash when print button clicked, and no printer was installed on pc

optimized core, and uses a lot less resorces

changed core, so that a 5 second buffer from controller to pc program was removed.

Goal time function, has been improved to allow goal time in seconds to be changed by clicking on the seconds bar. By highlighting number and retyping them change to goal time is a lot faster

*** files information is now saved! user settings are now saved!! Big request!****

Voltage values can now be calibrated. on the right side of the voltage test, is a sideways bar. clicking on this and arrowing up and down will adjust the voltage values seen +/- 5%.

Hardware loader, no longer has text message at windows start up

Samples are included of other batteries that have been run.

** preliminary development of high speed scope. core has been optimized for feature, and a very low speed add on is included. this one will run at least 4-10 times faster in version 1.9. this will be useful for hardware troubleshooting and bad rc parts. This device is more becoming a complete test tool solution.

INSTALLATION.

Run version 1.7/1.8 setup, and select uninstal. (important) . after complete uninstall, run version 1.8 install program. be sure to check hardware install box (same as first time use). shut down pc, and wait 30 sec. then turn on again.

Problems: email rc_inovations. be very specific about problems. This new version should be more stable than version 1.7, however if needed, run version 1.8 uninstal, then reinstal version 1.7
New installation instructions!

After install of battery test tool, run main program, make sure automode is "no". click start chart. To the right of the voltage measurement, is a small narrow scroll bar. this is used to adjust voltage during test runs. take a 1.5 volt battery (or a known value) and arrow up down on the keypad when the scroll bar is highlighted. this will callibrate voltage, and your voltage values will be saved upon exit. you should not need to recalibrate.

Click option, and enter the option menu. enable or disabe usable features to you. only change loading time if problems. this slows the code loading in windows, for troubleshooting.

You will notice an area labeled load resistance. this is the resistance of your load you use to drain the battery packs. usually .3 ohms is a good value, but if you would like to match your batteries, or know accuratly the current drain, please get a multimeater and measure resistance of your load, or calculate load from values of your resistors/ or motor (if you are using your motor as the load drain.

The curve fit is a promising tool under beta test. give it a try! Also note that if you dont like the pop ups it causes from its suggestions on your battery confidence, then disable this featuer, and it will still show a bar graph in the upper area of the program to the right, next to the message box.

I have tried to make the install as friendly as possible.

Best regards,

James

NEW AS OF VERSION 1.9 ! (Download now!)

Thankyou -
I appriciate the feedback and support I have recieved while making these new drivers. I initially planned to ship the drivers several weeks ago, but I had several new features to impliment. Version 1.9 feature list has changed slightly, as I needed to release the drivers, with a good set of optional features, and could not wait longer. The list is still impressive, and a few additional changes have been added.

what has changed during 1.9 testing.
* further improved responce of input/ and output. chart plots with even less delay
* scope and battery test tool program load in windows! no more auotexec file.
* controller is now programmed on the fly. this allows unlimited versitility.
* reduced cpu utilization. seems to test ok on a 486 50mhz still!
* resolution is not compressed or filtered for scope. This feature is ready, but not tested.
* all o- scope sample rates are 8 bit.
* graphing color changed from orange to blue.
* stability improvments for dos loader in windows. (version 2.0 all windows!/will load faster!)
* trigger levels from 0-90 % in 10% increments for frequencies above 40hz
* help menu implimented and is still beta. has links to web page.
* option menu now has loader time feature, for troubleshooting if windows loading problems
* scope now has enable program to load chip code to controller on the fly.
* detail menu now has a 1-9 second between values that can be adjusted. (when running test tool)
* print out of current, and preview of current used for batteries.
* multi chart disabled, as this feature is still in testing.
* new user friendly hardware loader. requires 600x800 resolution 256 colors or higher to run, and one available comm port

Reasons for delay.

Many features to test, and originally on the fly programming of controller was not due untill version 2.0. but because of usefulness, time taken to program now.

also some frequency ranges have not been tested/programmed due to time and testing constraints. I wanted to release a useful version in the mean time, that had several features more than version 1.8, even though 1.9 has more options than what is enabled. I may post a revised update later.

Added new option menu that has following options
new core- this uses new core for osciliscope, and may require a pentium 100mhz or higher
check if curve fit function - this is used for checking battery reliability.
resistance load- this is used so the software knows the load to your battery drain
graphing printout data with volts
graphing print out data with amps
multiview chart - this is used to compare multiple chart data

Added new help menu that has instructions and information on settings

Added blinking to goal pass line that goes across chart, to make easier to see

Added a amp drain feature to autostart. this shows current draw when load applied

When files are loaded, if   curve fit funtion enabled the program rates how good the battery pack used is. this feature gives an analog rating from 0 to 100% on the confidence of your battery.

Added ability to delete files from program.

When multichart is selected from option menu, print output has 2 options

- Data mode. this shows data from up to 4 different files at once. also allows saving to a text file.

-graph mode. this shows data from up to 4 different files at once.

Installation tool. The install should work in non windows directories now. (uses workaround in faq, automates it and will install an icon on the desktop, even in non default windows installations.)

Battery program now shows up in the task bar, requested for when many programs are running.

calibration values adjustable now more than 5%.
Other minor bug fixes.

OSCILISCOPE INTERFACE IMPROVEMENT.

- options for changing voltage range view from 0-3v to 0-6v to 0-9v to 0-12v.

-ability to change sample rate from 1hz, 5hz, 10hz,20hz at 8bit resolution.

-ability to change sample rate from 40hz,
90hz,180hz,360hz,600hz,1200hz,2400hz,6250hz,12500hz,25000hz
- 50000hz. With +/- trigger voltage. Samples done from onboard digital controller computer,
- then reprocessed on PC. This requires use of new core feature in option menu.
- voltage output is 8bits.
Graph plot is compressed, and will have a filter feature.

Other various features being looked at, upon version 1.9 release.

Version 1.9.3 beta- This update is on its way out. Some minor fixes, and improvements to the program. The Digital probe code loader is now completely 32 bit windows code. Dos program removed. Loads A lot faster!  More improvements to Oscope interface, and settings. Multi chart feature is not enabled, and is being replaced by a better format with 1.9.4 release.

RC_PATCH update for 1.9.3

This update fixes an occurance on comm ports with low power, or noisy power. The fix adjusts the linear range of the controller to increase wide voltage range accuracy. Also new update allows quicker adjustment of voltage, without the need to be plotting data when adjusting voltage. The new patch also allows measuring up to 20 volts! with adding a 10k resistor to the end of the posative lead! Just recalibrate with 10k resistor, and leave attached, device will work up to 20 volts!
